Home MenuSurvey Monument Cap Resource Guide
The Community Development Department has developed the following procedure to provide Village of Schaumburg monument caps to surveyors and developers.
It is critical the village receive a “GPS Survey Monument Location” sheet for each monument cap that is picked up from the village and set in the ground. These data sheets are available from this page, or can be requested directly from the Community Development Department. Over the years, these data sheets have been increasingly difficult to obtain, or just have never been returned to the village. For those reasons, the village is now requiring a deposit be paid before picking up the monument caps.
Effective May 1, 2018, the Village of Schaumburg requires a $100.00 deposit per project before monument caps can be picked up from the village. The deposit can only be made on the WebPay page section of the website. The surveyor and/or developer will receive a WebPay receipt by email and must then bring a copy of the receipt to the village hall to pick up the monument caps. Monument Caps will be disbursed by the Community Development Department during village hall business hours of 8am – 6pm Monday through Friday. Payment for the deposit through our WebPay page will be by credit card only, and Discover, Mastercard, American Express, or Visa are all accepted.
The customer will print the receipt at their home or office which shows a deposit has been paid for the monument caps. With that receipt, the customer would come in to the permits counter at the Village Hall, 101 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg, IL 60193 to receive their caps. The agreement is that the “Survey Monument Location Sheet” sheet must be returned within 90 days, and the full deposit will be refunded to the credit card. If that time passes and we have not received the required "Survey Monument Location" sheets, then the full deposit will be forfeited. Even after that time has passed, the Village of Schaumburg will still expect the return of the “Survey Monument Location” sheets. The village will explore other means of obtaining the Survey Monument Documentation if needed such as holding up occupancy permits, holding up other permits, placing a hold on the tax transfer stamp for the property, and/or holding the release of letters of credit or bonds. In the most severe cases, the village could issue citations for an adjudication hearing at the village.
