The Community Development Department is responsible for planning and zoning, development review, and building and engineering permit services.  The department manages several programs related to property maintenance enforcement and health and sanitation inspections.  Special projects include management of the Schweikher House Trust, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, the farmers market, and oversight for sustainability planning and implementation.

Permits

The Village is dedicated to ensuring the public safety, health and welfare of the community by serving and assisting the public with various development-related projects through outstanding review, permitting, and inspection services.

The person performing the work, whether it is a homeowner or contractor, is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits. Once the permit is issued, you can begin work. The permit must be on site with your submitted paper work and available to the inspector and if your permit has accompanying approved plans, they must be available as well.
