2009 - 2012
The Village of Schaumburg Comprehensive Green Action Plan (C GAP) was approved by the Village Board in 2009. C GAP follows the framework of the US Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement consisting of 12 actions that can be used to meet or exceed the Kyoto Protocol targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
For the purposes of C GAP, Schaumburg consolidated the 12 actions from the US Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement into 9 categories: CO2e Baseline; Land Use; Transportation; Green Power; Energy Efficiency; Green Buildings; Water Conservation and Management; Recycling and Waste Reduction; and Education and Outreach.
Within these categories, Schaumburg defined current programs and developed goals to build upon the existing programs. The goals in C GAP were incorporated into Schaumburg’s Corporate Goal Program in May, 2009.
This is a progress report that summarizes achievements made toward reducing Schaumburg’s impact on the environment and defines Schaumburg as a leader in the area of environmental stewardship.
