Public Notice Signs

Public Notice Signs are posted in the village for zoning-related requests presented at a Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) or Plan Commission public hearing. The ZBA and Plan Commission are an advisory board/commission that makes recommendations to the Village Board on zoning-related matters. Signs are typically posted in the right-of-way of properties so that they are readily visible from the street. The purpose of the signs is to let the community know that the property is scheduled for an upcoming public hearing.  Signs are generally posted 15 days prior to a scheduled hearing.

If you see a public notice sign and have questions about a project or property, please email  zoning@schaumburg.com for more information or contact the Planning Division at (847) 923-4430.

In addition to the public notice signs, some projects require written notice to surrounding property owners. Property owners within 150 feet of a property scheduled for public hearing should receive a written notice of the public hearing, which provides additional details on a project, including the name and location of the project as well as the date, time and location of the public hearing.

ZBA and Plan Commission agendas are posted on the Village Calendar the Friday before the scheduled hearing. The agendas have links for the specific request scheduled, and generally include documents such as the application, plans, staff report, and location map.
