Crime Free Multi-Housing Training
The Schaumburg Police Department now offers the VOS Crime Free Multi-Housing training online!
This virtual training is available anytime and can be completed at your convenience. This presentation replaces in-person learning. This process is also linked to the rental license application form, allowing participants to complete their training and apply for their rental license at the same time.
If there are extenuating circumstances preventing you from completing the training online, please contact the Crime Free Multi-Housing Coordinator's officer at 847-348-7320 or call 311 in Schaumburg.

Crime Free Multi-Housing Program
Phase 1 (Mandatory per VOS Ordinance 123.02, Section D)
Take the virtual Crime Free Multi-Housing training.
Topics include Crime Prevention, benefits of applicant screening, crime-free lease addendum, evictions and pro-active management techniques.
Phase 2 (Security Assessment)
CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) certification. CPTED reviews security requirements necessary for tenant’s safety.
Phase 3 (Safety Social)
To obtain full certification, multi-unit property managers will be required to hold a tenant crime prevention meeting and will be provided materials and assistance to publicize the meeting with their tenants.
