Q: Tell me about your background and how you came to reside in Schaumburg.
A: I was born and raised in Mexico, growing up in a border town with my mom and three brothers. My mother remarried following my parents' divorce, leading us to relocate to the United States. Initially settling in Texas for three years, I've been in Illinois for 29 years now, with the last 15 spent in Schaumburg.
Q: How do you give back to the community?
A: With nearly 25 years in banking, I've always been dedicated to community banks, fostering lasting customer relationships. Working at Wintrust Bank provides me with the platform to support various community-based organizations.
I've been a board member of the Schaumburg Business Association (SBA) for five years and have the honor of being the elected Chairperson for 2025. One of the most rewarding initiatives I'm involved in with the SBA is the Adopt a Highway Program. We maintain a stretch of Frontage Road, and as a Schaumburg resident, I'm delighted to contribute to keeping our community clean by volunteering regularly. I also value the connections I’ve forged within the community through the SBA so I can assist individuals with their financial needs.
Additionally, I serve as President of the Prairie Center Arts Foundation (PCAF), an organization dedicated to enriching lives through cultural arts. As a member of PCAF, my role involves fundraising to support programs such as the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra, Schaumburg Dance Ensemble, and several others.
Q: What do you like best about Schaumburg?
A: I adore everything about Schaumburg! Fortunately, the bank I was employed by opened a location here. I’ve never been a fan of long commutes, so when my lease was up, I relocated to Schaumburg and have been a resident ever since. I appreciate the diversity of offerings, from all kinds of restaurants to entertainment, shopping and numerous activities. I especially enjoy taking a walk at the Sculpture Park on the Municipal Center grounds. Schaumburg is a beautiful community, and I take pride in calling it home.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?
A: I firmly believe in the value of hard work and pursuing one's dreams. Despite the initial challenges of adapting to a new language and culture upon arriving in this country, I remained committed to becoming successful and helping others. I find immense joy in my work, as it aligns with my passion for helping others and making a difference. When you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work!
