GFOA Award | 2024 | The Finance Department received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report. |
Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge | 2024 | Schaumburg Police Department placed first in the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge against other law enforcement agencies of similar size and type to create the best overall traffic safety program. |
ISO Class 1 Rating and CFAI Accreditation | 2024 | The Schaumburg Fire Department is 1 of 6 in Illinois to achieve both an ISO Class 1 Public Protection Classification rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO) and accreditation status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). |
CALEA Accreditation | 2024 | The Schaumburg Police Department was awarded its 11th national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) in the Law Enforcement program for continuing to meet the highest professional standards of public safety. |
APWA Project of the Year | 2024 | The village's American Lane Culvert Rehabilitation Project was awarded the Public Works Project of the Year in the Disaster or Emergency Construction/Repair category from the American Public Works Association Chicago Metro Chapter - Suburban Branch. |
Digital Cities Award | 2023 | The village placed fifth in its first year of moving up from the 75,000-and-under population category to the category of municipalities with a population of 75,000 – 124,999. |
GFOA Award | 2023 | The Village of Schaumburg has been honored with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Award for its FY 2023/24 budget plan. |
Outstanding Navy Reserve Employer | 2023 | The village was one of approximately 50 employers to be recognized for providing outstanding support to Navy Reserve sailors who work for organizations in a civilian capacity. |

Tree City USA | 2022 | Schaumburg achieved this status by maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, dedicating an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. |
Excellence in Snow and Ice Control Award |
2022 | The Village of Schaumburg is one of five agencies in the nation to receive the award, which promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works snow and ice operations, while minimizing environmental impacts. |
GFOA Award | 2022 | The village received the prestigious Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting with special recognition for reporting performance measures. |
Digital Cities Award | 2022 | Awarded first place for improving network security and keeping applications operating efficiently while being fiscally responsible. |
ACEC-IL Merit Award | 2022 | The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Illinois recognized the village with a Merit Award for the Woodfield Road Improvement Projects. |
APWA Project of the Year | 2022 | The American Public Works Association Chicago Metro Chapter - Suburban Branch recognized the village's Asset Management program, which uses state of the art software to track the condition of and work performed on all village assets such as streets, watermain, trees, sewers, facilities, etc. |
Better Business Town Award | 2021 | The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois recognized the village as a Better Business Town, a new designation that identifies highly engaged local communities that actively promote an ethical and trustworthy business marketplace. |

Smart 50 Award | 2021 | Recognized for the village’s innovation in creating a custom-developed application to manage village snow removal operations while also providing real-time tracking. |
Illinois ESGR Above and Beyond Award | 2021 | The village received the Above and Beyond Award for its dedication to supporting village employees who are members of the National Guard and Military Reserve. |
