Roadway Information

Streets within Schaumburg are classified based on a variety of characteristics, such as design speed and traffic volumes. Additionally, the jurisdiction of the streets also varies to multiple agencies such as Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways and, of course, the Village of Schaumburg.

Public Transportation

The Village of Schaumburg offers a variety of Transportation options including the Woodfield Trolley, Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART), Metra Train Service, Pace Bus Service as well as Senior Transportation Services.

The RTA (Regional Transportation Authority) also offers convenient rider resources that will describe how to use the train and bus services in the city and suburbs. Simply put in the beginning and ending address, and the guide will describe which bus routes and train routes to take, along with times and locations.

Bicycle Network

Schaumburg is also proud of providing its residents and visitors with an award-winning bicycle network. The village was the first community in Illinois recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a Bicycle Friendly Community and was recertified with a Bronze level designation by the League in its most recent review. Schaumburg Regional Airport

The village also operates a public use general aviation airport encompassing 117 acres in both Cook County and DuPage County. The airport is home to numerous businesses including an award-winning restaurant, aircraft charters, flight training, airplane and helicopter rides, aircraft maintenance, local news helicopters, and other aviation-related businesses.

Located at 905 W. Irving Park Road, it is easily accessible from I-390 by exiting at Wright Boulevard. The Schaumburg Regional Airport is home to approximately 90 aircraft and handles about 40,000 operations per year while generating a total economic impact of over $33.9 million annually to the region.
