Join the Schaumburg Environmental Committee at the annual conservation and sustainability fair on Sunday, June 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road.
Learn from landscape professional Sue Cubberly how to design and plant your own rain garden to absorb excess rainwater. Participants can bring photographs of their yards for a personal consultation. Coloring and activity books will be provided for children. Enter a drawing for a free rain barrel and test your knowledge with rain garden trivia.
The event is offered in partnership with the Schaumburg Park District and the Schaumburg Township District Library's Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff: Read, Renew, Repeat.

Sue Cubberly - CitizenSolutions (Rain Garden Network)
Ms. Cubberly will describe and show a hands-on approach to controlling rainwater runoff while creating a haven for desirable plant life and pollinators. Sue will show examples of attractive and easy-to-create rain gardens and will teach participants how to turn problem areas into desirable spaces that conserve water, solve rainwater runoff problems, and beautify the landscape. Bring photographs of your yard for a personal consultation.
Exhibitors representing local environmental organizations will be on hand with information and be available to answer questions about their programs and projects.
This is sure to be a fun and educational event for the whole family!
