Miscellaneous plumbing work requires a permit. Some examples include repairs, code violations, installations of sinks, water meters, grease traps, back flow devices, etc. All plumbing work must be performed by a State of Illinois Licensed Plumbing Contractor.
Permit Fees
- $35: Plan Review Fee, Plus
- $12: For Each Fixture

- Submit a commercial permit application through the OpenGov Permit Portal.
Required Inspections
- Underground Plumbing
- Rough: Plumbing
- Final: Plumbing
- All inspections require a 24 hour minimum advanced notice. Schedule inspections up to 4 p.m. on the business day prior to the requested inspection date by submitting a request through the Permit Portal or calling Permit Services at 847-923-4420.
- Construction is required to be inspected at different phases of development according to the project type.
- Construction must remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved by the Inspector.
- The printed permit card must be clearly visible on site along with the approved as noted permit set, readily available to the Inspector.
