When social interactions halted and healthcare became harder to access during the pandemic, reports of anxiety and depression increased in senior citizens.

The Older Adults Services in Schaumburg (OASIS) Program provides social visits to the community’s senior and disabled population. This non-medical companionship program is provided by vetted Village of Schaumburg volunteers, and visits are initially conducted over the phone. These visits have the potential to evolve into in-person if both parties are comfortable. OASIS helps creates a sense of connection for those who are feeling lonely.

Now Seeking Volunteers

Those interested in volunteering with the Oasis Program must complete the online volunteer application, selecting the Fire Department as the department of interest. Once the completed form is submitted, staff from the Nursing Division will contact you.
