All Liquor License requests are handled by the Village Liquor Commissioner who is also the Village President. The Village President’s Office must be contacted at (847) 923-4402 to obtain information about the process.
There are two types of Liquor Licenses: a daily or one-time event license and an annual liquor license. Annual liquor licenses must be renewed on or before December 1 of each year.
1-Day Liquor License Application
1-Day (Class D) Liquor License Request – NEW PROCESS
An application and all applicable documentation must be submitted to the Liquor Commissioner's Office online. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive an email with a link to complete their payment via WebPay. The fee is $40. Once the payment is submitted and processed, the applicant will then receive an email with a PDF copy of the 1-Day Liquor License as well as a PDF copy of their completed, signed application. Applicants must print and display the license at the event.
Liquor License New Requests
A new annual liquor license must begin with a letter to the liquor commissioner for formal action before an application can be processed. Send letters to Liquor Commissioner, Village of Schaumburg, 101 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg, IL 60193, email mgerwel@schaumburg.com or call (847) 923-4402.
Liquor license applicants and their general managers are reviewed by the police department. The application review includes a background check, which may take from four to six weeks. Inaccurate, incomplete and questionable answers will lead to delays in the process and may impact approval of the application. Changes of general managers at liquor license establishments must be registered with the Village Liquor Commissioner. Failure to have any new or different general manager registered may place the liquor license in jeopardy. For additional information about background checks, contact the police department at (847) 882-3586. Current liquor license renewals must be completed on or before December 1 each year. Once an applicant's email address is entered in the village's system, an electronic application will be sent annually.
