An amusement license is only required if there is a fee to access the amusement or entertainment.

Amusement is defined as any event, activity, exhibition, performance, presentation, or show for entertainment purposes which are exhibited or staged in the village, including, but not limited to, the following:

(A) Any comedic, theatrical, dramatic, musical, opera, or spectator performance or production, or similar live or recorded entertainment;

(B) Any show, antique or flower show, speech or lecture;

(C) Any exhibition of art or handicrafts or products;

(D) Any poultry or animal show, animal act, circus, or rodeo;

(E) Any athletic contest, sport, game, or similar exhibition such as boxing, wrestling, skating, dancing, swimming, racing or riding of animals or vehicles, baseball, basketball, softball, football, tennis, golf, hockey, track and field games, bowling, billiard and pool games, laser tag, miniature golf, and rounds or games of golf;

(F) Any motion picture film projection and motion picture show;

(G) Any amusement devices such as virtual reality games, video games, internet cafe games, pinball machines, and arcade games.

Two types of amusement licenses require application submittal:


Annual Amusement License

Current Fee: $237

An Annual Amusement License application must be submitted for any amusement and/or entertainment activities or events scheduled within a calendar year period for a single establishment or location. The application must be submitted by the business owner and explain in detail each activity and will require Village Board approval. Any changes in ownership of an establishment with an approved amusement license shall void the license. Any new owner shall be required to submit for an annual amusement license if amusement is requested and be subject to Village Board approval.


Short Term Amusement License

Current Fee: $30 per day not to exceed $237

A Special Event permit application must be submitted to obtain a Short Term Amusement License for a single entertainment activity or event, either consecutive or intermittent, within a calendar year period for a single location that imposes an amusement surcharge. Entertainment is restricted to no later than 1:00 am on Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 am on Friday and Saturday. Dependent on the extent of the event, additional licenses and permits may be required including but not limited: to a Municipal Property/Right-of-Way permit, liquor license, signage permit, electrical permit, building permit, and raffle permit.
