The Sign Ordinance provides regulations for the size, number, and placement of signs. A sign permit is required for installation of most signs. Sign regulations can be found in Section 155 of the Municipal Code. Additional information can also be found in the Sign Permit Resource Guide.

Political signs are considered a noncommercial sign and a permit is not required. For more information, please view the Political Signs Display Guide.

Olde Schaumburg Centre Historic District

Specific regulations were established to regulate the location, size, placement, and certain features of signs in the OSC District for the purpose of maintaining the integrity and enhancing the historical character of the area. The regulations are intended to encourage compatibility between the signs and the architecture of the District and promote the preservation of the area. For more information, please view the OSC Sign Resource Guide.

Variations

If your proposed sign doesn't meet the Zoning Code regulations, you may request approval of a variation to the code. Variations are reviewed by the Zoning Board of Appeals at a public hearing before being reviewed by the Village Board. Additional information is included in the Sign Variation Resource Guide.
