• Create a recognition program to support and promote the green actions taken by businesses and residents.

Al Larson Award Program

Schaumburg's Environmental Committee established a green recognition program in 2010. The Al Larson Environmental Award recognizes members of the community that demonstrate environmental awareness and action in their day to day activities. Awards are presented annually to residential and non-residential locations in the village. 11 awards have been presented since the program began.

Annual Landscape Award Program

The Environmental Committee sponsors an Annual Landscape Award program to recognize members of the community that exhibit excellence in their landscape improvements and maintenance. 39 awards have been presented since the program began in 2007.

Other Outreach and Education

Schaumburg's leaders and staff are well-represented within regional groups such as the Northwest Municipal Conference and Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning as well as more localized groups that have laid out needs and priorities for funding.
