Action Item: Inventory global warming emissions in village operations and in the community, set reduction targets and create an action plan.
Through the Municipal Energy Profile Project, Schaumburg received Energy and Emissions Profiles for 2005 and 2006 that provide energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions data specifically for the village.
These reports are important in that they made it possible for Schaumburg to benchmark aggregate baseline energy use data at the local level.
This project was funded by the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation and relied on support from ComEd, Nicor, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, and Illinois Department of Transportation.
Schaumburg began implementing energy efficient retrofits of all municipal facilities in 2009 and launched Commercial and Residential Energy Efficient Retrofit Programs to reduce energy use and emissions
